Founded by guitarist / vocalist Everett Mason and bassist
Galen Weir in 2001, Ape has been formed with the intention of becoming the
next great rock band.
In a time when all new bands that flood the airwaves seem familiar, Ape is
destined to break through with their refreshingly old-school, yet original
style. Regardless of curent trends, good bands stand the test of time. The fact of
the matter is people are still in desperate need for their rock fix, and there
seems to be nobody new destined to step in and fill the void. In an attempt
to reject the current evolution of rock music Ape, as the name suggests, is
a band that great pride in their music connecting with old-school heavy metal
and hard rock fans.
The members of Ape use their influences to create a brand
of music they beleive to be unique while paying homage to the bands they grew
up worshipping. Drawing influences from a variety of classic and contemporary
groups, the band has already has begun to form its own recognizable sound that
is evident in Ape's all-original music repitoire. Ape, which features Everett
Mason on guitar and vocals, Galen Weir on bass, and Anthony Giles on drums,
has a high-energylive show that showcases their love for classic rock and their diverse musical
talent. Ape has recently performed in such Toronto venues as: The Bovine Sex
Club, Club 279, The Horseshoe, The Reverb, The Silver Dollar, The Smilling Buddha,
The Kathedral, Lee's Palace, and The Funhaus.
